I was meant for the curtain.
I was meant to tread these boards,
Of this much I am certain."
The Decemberists, "I Was Meant For The Stage"
Sponberg! Thine boards shall I tread.
It is still surreal that I have been chosen to represent Strinberg's, and in turn Bergman's, Miss Julie. She is insane. She is loose. She is obnoxious. She is self-serving. She is despairing.
None of these things am I.
Meryl Streep played Miss Julie in college, too.
Sid said she was happy it was me.
It felt so right to get screamed at... "Servant's slut...!"
I am so nervous: British RP!? What will I do with my hands? What if I'm too quiet? Don't pronounce the French right??
But, hell. Hell. I can't wait. I can't wait to be... Julie.
And: Scene.
"What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun. "
The Book of Ecclesiastes 1: 9
